Hello and welcome to our web site. We have one big event coming up you won’t want to miss. The Inaugural Iowa Boucherie. What is a Boucherie? It means, “to butcher”. But more importantly during times before freezers and fridges folks used to bring pigs together and process the pigs with all the neighbors around. They would make some of the best pork dishes and serve them and folks would take home fresh pork. This was also a time of music and dance and a time of celebration. Since our Mission at Rustik Rooster Farms is to bring the number one pig in the US to as many Americans as we can we want to use the Iowa Boucherie as a way to teach Chefs and folks that want to be Chefs how to break down pork correctly. For the folks that live and die for the best BBQ our clinic led by Greg Bell of Big Hatt Gourmet will get the job done. At the end of the day all the pigs that sacrificed themselves will be prepared hundreds of different ways for our evening potluck dinner. Feel free to bring along your favorite family recipes to share with Chefs and all the people that just simply love good food. We encourage any and all foods that you may want to bring.
Come to our Boucherie to listen to some of the finest bluegrass music in the midwest. Just relax have some of the finest pork in the United States, listen to some of the best music and meet some of the finest people in Iowa.
Farm Philosophy
We raise all our animals in the most humane way, much as our grandparents would have. Rustik Rooster Farms is where the Jetsons meet Green Acres, complete with the front porch falling off. We don’t use GMO feed. We do use an antibiotic once in a while as needed. We find it just plain stupid not to treat an animal when they are sick. However, unlike most CAFO (confinement based) systems that feed antibiotics daily, we do NOT feed antibiotics daily. We strive to allow the animals to be happy animals. Because a happy animal tastes the best. Our beef, pork, chicken, turkey, sheep, and goats are raised so completely olde school that we do not even use electricity at any stage of their production. Now THAT is GREEN.
Our Iowa Swabian Hall is produced much as the Germans have been raising them in Germany for a hundred years. Our Iowa Swabians are fed hydroponically grown, living greens. To round them out they are being fed dairy products daily along with their living greens. This method of feeding coupled with our special genetics creates the number one tasting pig in the United States.
